Our Philosophy

Blueroad Press was conceived from an interest in road stories and a lifelong preoccupation with the influence that the road holds over our lives, obviously and otherwise. We are fascinated with the way the road comes in and out of focus over time and space. We love movement and discovery, light and dark, up and down. If these ideas grab you as well, please consider submitting your work to us.

Submission Guidelines

The Blueroad Reader Series accepts submissions of short fiction, literary non-fiction (including essays), and poetry. It is published annually, every nine to twelve months.

Blueroad Press is also interested in seeing book-length new work that fits with our focus on the road. We are looking for high-quality literary fiction and works of non-ficition. We do not accept general submissions of poetry, children's literature, or genre fiction.

With every submission to Blueroad, please send a cover letter and author bio. For fiction, we would like to see three to four sample chapters or stories, with an outline for the rest of your book. Please, no full manuscripts. If we are interested, we will request more. For non-fiction, a synopsis of story, research, any illustrations, and your credentials with regards to your subject are requested. No email submissions.

Please consider our mission when submitting. No simultaneous submissions. We are a very small organization, but we will try to respond to each submission within 4 months of receipt. Please be patient.
